The Secret History Of Elizabeth Tudor, Vampire Slayer by Lucy Weston

Quick read, pretty predictable, not great, but ok. Weak ending. Queen Elizabeth I, finds out upon her coronation that her kingdom is threatend by vampires led by Mordred, son of Arthur, who has been a vampire down through the ages. And she is a legendary Slayer.

The Sultana Odyssey: A Civil War Novel Based On America's Worst Maritime Tragedy by Paul Brennan

I received this book from the Early Reviewers group.
This was a historical fiction tale about the waning days of the American Civil War and a tragedy that took place when a Steamboat on the Mississippi carrying thousands of returning prisoners of war exploded off the shores by Memphis. It was a terrible tragedy. This is an adventure story told through the eyes of a young Dr. from Chicago traveling South to retrieve his sister so she can make it home in time to see their dying mother. Unfortunately, he gets caught up in the brutality of the war from both sides and has to make a perilous journey home, helping a s many as he can along the way. The story culminates in the voyage of the Sultana and the tragedy that occurred.
This was an easy to read, adventurous story although not for everyone as it has some graphic content on the nature of war and it's inhumanity. Enjoyable, exciting read. My only comments would be on the few punctuation and grammatical errors that i noticed.

Men Of Metal: Eyewitness Accounts Of Humanoid Robots: An Excerpt From The Book by Rowland Samuel

Not sure what this is or where it came from. Booklet, thought I picked it up at a comic book convention years ago. Reads like an excerpt from a Scifi book about a scientist building sentient robots from Mini Cooper cars. Tried looking up on internet, not much info. May be advertising for Mini Coopers. Weird.

A Donnybrook Affair by Robert E. Kearns

Won this through Early Reviewers. This was a well written, homage to the hardboiled private eye noirs of the 40's and 50's. I enjoyed this book as I enjoy those types of stories. The story was good if a little familiar but the twists and turns were fun. If anything it seemed a little under done, can't quite put my finger on it but just a little short, but i still enjoyed it and would read more.

Let's All Kill Constance by Ray Bradbury

I love Ray Bradbury books. I read this a few years ago and did not like it. Very disappointed. Decided t reread and see if my opinion had changed. Did not.
Parts of the story are wonderful fun, old Hollywood history, could be so entertaining. But the stream of consciousness writing style really wears thin and is hard to follow. Just a slight glimmer of Bradbury greatness here, fading fast.

The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever Book One: Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson

Read this when it first came out in the late 70's and found it hard to enjoy. Kind of depressing and a main character I didn't care for.
Decided to give it another try, this year and am enjoying it a little more at least for the imagery it provides and some of the other characters, still don't particularly like the main character.
