At least two NZ Thingamabrarians (senjmito and fabtk) have been having the intermittent problem of logging on and being given the wrong profile - when I click on "Your Profile", I sometimes get fabtk's profile, and vice versa. I have also been given SpicyCat's profile from time to time. LT admin thinks that this is an ISP problem, and that it may be particular to New Zealand. Both fabtk and I are with TelstraClear.

So I'd like to know:

* Have you had this problem?
* If so, are you with TelstraClear?

Once we know the scope of the problem, it may be easier to do something about it.

I've found the problem can be fixed by clicking again on the "Your Profile" tag, or by changing the profile URL to the correct one, e.g.

http://www.librarything.com/profile/fabtk

to

http://www.librarything.com/profile/senjmito

Regards
Tim

This has happened in the past. Not recently however.

I am also with telstraclear.co.nz

My biggest problem at the moment is not being about to edit profile details. I have just cleared out everything on explorer, cache etc, temp files. Still does not work. Cannot edit details.

I have also tried editing on my mac in safari and had no joy either. Will give telstra a ring but they have up to 30 minute wait times in the evenings!

No, I've not - but have witnessed reports of similar problems on sites such as Zillion (problem was traced to an over-aggressive caching problem with Slingshot in that case). I am with ihug (now under Vodafone umbrella) :-)

I have never had this problem, in almost a full year of membership.
I don't know if I'm with TelstraClear or not though, one flatmate takes care of pretty much everything billwise.

ETA: we are with xnet (I actually asked the flatmate)

No problems here. We're with xtra.

Thanks for the responses! Today, just for variety, I was given "northislander" as my profile.

So far, it doesn't look as though too many of us have this problem - any more people affected?

I've not had a problem - on ihug (vodafone).

I haven't had a profile problem - I did have a hiccup loading books the other night, but that seems to have fixed itself and I have gotten rid of the duplicates ..

senjmito and fabtk are you getting access to the full profiles (including private stuff) or just the wrong 'profile homepage'?

At the moment, I am always getting northislander's profile the first time I click on the profile tab, and it seems to be just the profile homepage. If I go to "Add Books" from there, for instance, I get my own "Add Books" page.

I'm getting northislander's profile today too. I have also had senjmito and SpicyCat's profile pages in the last 2 weeks.
I just see the other user's profile page instead of my own, not their books or anything else.

I emailed TelstraClear about this last week but they said it wasn't their problem, because if it was to do with their caching they would have also had complaints about Facebook & Bebo etc. But surely it must be their problem if the only people experiencing this are in New Zealand and on TelstraClear.

Maybe others that are having the problem could email TelstraClear too so we can get them to have another look at it.

I had a problem some time ago but not recently. I am with Telstraclear.

Yes, I'm with TelstraClear too - tonight I was showing up as being logged in as "Booksrme" - previously, it's been one of the other users mentioned (and/or posting) above.

This is still happening intermittently. Today I was northislander, a few days ago I was timjones. I'm with telstraclear too so there seems to be a pattern here...

My theory is that NZ Telstraclear users sometimes get the profile of the previous NZ Telstraclear user to have logged in. Just a hunch, though.
