Lilyfyrestorm, I'm glad someone likes The Westing Game because that book brought me to the brink of quitting reading in middle school.

For you I choose A Streetcar Named Desire, mostly because I started at the end of the alphabet and went until i found a play - people don't read enough of them!

I'm open to reviewing anything in my library, but if you ask me to review the German Constitution (Grundgesetz) or The Economics of Financial Markets or something really dry I will make voodoo dolls. You've been warned.

I've read The Compass Rose and my review is here. It was difficult to narrow down what I'd said in a much longer livejournal review, which is why it took so long (that and having finals right after). I like LeGuin but in this case the story quality varied and the collection had nothing to hold it together, nor were the stories placed in the best order.

Lilyfyrestorm, it was hard to pick just one, but I finally settled on The October Country by Ray Bradbury for your next review. Your collection is impressive! Most of the books on your list are ones I've either read or want to read.

I've finished Across the Wall: A Tale of the Abhorsen and Other Stories, and my review is here. It's one of the more consistently enjoyable short story collections I've read (even the stories I didn't like as much were not unenjoyable), and lilyfyrestorm, I think you'll definitely enjoy it.

I've posted the review of the graphic novel The Last Temptation by Neil Gaiman (the touchstones don't work, but I'm sure you can search by Gaiman. Not bad, but a bit simple compared to Gaiman's usual works--I'd almost term it young adult if not for a few fairly graphic scenes.

ejd0626--how about Cat Counsellor: How Your Cat Really Relates to You by Vicky Halls. I'm a fellow cat lover, so I'd love to hear your opinion (especially as another busy student too).

As for me, anything unreviewed is fine--though, please no huge norton/thousand page anthologies or it may be a year or so before you hear back...

I have finally finished Heaven Lake and written my review. I am sorry that it took me so long, but because of my mother's recent hospitilization and problems with the book (described in my review) I just didn't make it through this one very quickly.
That said, I am ready for another assignment. Whoever chooses please select one marked TBR. I am trying to work on my stack. Lol.

I think you should read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - you've already read the earlier books and seemed to like them, so you may as well finish the series.

Ejj1955 - what a superb collection of books awaitng your review. Very hard to pick one, but I'll settle for Alternate realities - 3 very thought provoking short stories from a superb author that I thoroughly enjoy. I'm always very curious as to what other people think of them.

Wow, reading fox, I sure had a tough time trying to pick a book from your library since you already had so many reviews for so many of your books.

I finally settled on Original Sin by P.D. James. The reason being, not just an hour before I signed on to LT I came across a reference to him by the main character in the book I am currently reading (People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks). So when I saw his name on your list I thought it was an interesting coincidence.

timnog, how about Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin? She's one of my favorite authors and I've heard great things about that work, but it's still on my tbr pile as of now, so I'd love to hear your opinion.

On my end, I can report that I've finished Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult, but I'm afraid that while I was excited to read it and the plot sounded fascinating, it was one of the more ridiculous books I've read--sorry if I'm stepping on the toes of anyone who loves her here!--and will be my first and last Picoult novel. Still, I'm glad that I gave her a try since I see her work mentioned so often. For me, anything unread/unreviewed is fine--just please avoid the thousand page anthologies!

I've finally read and reviewed Occupational Hazards - a really enjoyable and interesting read and a devastatingly clear picture of what it was actually like trying to build democracy in Iraq, day by day.

I've finished and reviewed The Girl at the Lion d'Or and liked it - a lot more readable than I'd expected from the cover blurb.

I had a look through your extensive humour/humor section jimroberts and have picked A year in Cricklewood by Alan Coren, which doesn't seem to have any reviews. I was sorely tempted by Yoga for chickens too!

For my next read/review, please pick something i actually own (tagged 1), but avoid anything also tagged ste (not easily accessible), with a start/end read date entered (read in the last few years) or too heavily science fiction/fantasy (more my husband's interests than mine). That should still leave plenty to choose from so take your pick!

Stepehn.andrew.brown - do you mind if I ask you to chose a different book as I did read A short history of nearly everything in 2005 and it already has plenty of reviews - mostly fairly favourable. I didn't do a full review, but my comments when I read it were 'Very readable and interesting, with lots of comparisons, though don't tend to remember all that many facts afterwards' and I gave it four stars. If you suggest another title for me (see message 159 for what to avoid) then that should put you at the end of the list again ready for someone to chose for you.

I'm back after a very long break - in April of last year I was assigned Strangers in the Night by Linda Howard last year but unfortunatly I am unable to find the book... all my books are still in boxes from when I moved and I have searched through all the boxes and cannot find it. I keep hoping my husband will hurry up and finish my built in bookshelves so that I can finally unpack all my books and find it but alas they are still in the pre-stuck to the wall stage. If it's okay I'd like to jump back in and start out with a new book.

Fourpawz2 - would you please read and review Green Darkness by Anya Seton. I read the book a couple years ago and though I really enjoyed it - it was not what I was expecting. I'd appreciate hearing your take on it.

I've been meaning to write more (and hopefully improved) reviews, and this will help me revisit some of my library and encourage me to get to that TBR stack. I'm glad you liked it, Lily! I guess I'm picking for you again so will go with something different, Black Bodies and Quantum Cats. I'm always interested in potentially finding a quantum physics book that I actually understand so would like to see what you think of this one. Chraig Thomas is best known for firefox which was almost famous for a while and I think inspired a film. Jade Tiger ins't anywhere near as good.
