I was just wondering if anyone here had a History website.

I ask because apparently I can't waste enough time on the internet, and am always looking for some history related sites and topics.

So do ya? Do ya?

For the Blaeu atlas click “bekijk de atlassen in de viewer” in http://www.leidenarchief.nl/content/view/103/68 (it takes some time but then you have a thing of beauty)

Some I collected in a map Imperialism:

THANK YOU, Marieke54!

Just spent a delicious hour at the Leiden archive staring at the maps and what-not. Great places.

"The paunch of a male buffaloe, when well cooked, is very delicious food. The Natives scarcely ever wash it, but boil it with much of its dung, adhering to it; and even then, the broth has an excellent taste."

I am currently reading a most excellent article on food.

A co-worker, reading over my shoulder, made the most interesting noise reading that. What year is the book from? 1830s?

A site, mostly in English, for interested people by an enthusiastic Dutch ancient historian, Jona Lendering:
http://www.livius.org/

You can subscribe to a free newsletter. I did and each month it is a surprise.

Yes, I do. Well, it's more of a blog, really. You can find it at http://historyman.wordpress.com/. I'm still trying to focus it on one thing or another. Right now it covers material that I write on (see American Rifle), but I'm trying to put together a series of posts on "How to Write a History Book."

I'm a little late in expressing my thanks, Marieke. You are SUCH a wonderful resource. (do you sleep?)

(I read your reply long ago and just wasn't awake enough to respond. Sort of like now. Meant to come back... and forgot.)

Awesome, AlexanderRose. I'm going to add this to my blogroll; and will peruse after the kids are off to school.

My latest posts were on the Oxford History Summer book sale, and the discover of the 4th Century BC necklace in Greece.

> 8 Hi Pam

Fully awake now, and preparing for Minoans and Romiote Jews (this time) in my favourite cradle: Crete.
I am happy you like our wonderful mister Lendering and his doings.

Right now the poor thing is my neglected child. I work with some others on a children's book site and it is presently sucking up all my free time. I need to get back to History. I've got a backlog of reviews to do... and, of course, Mount TBR!

I have a blog on my website about Dutch genealogy. It's a bit neglected though since I have lots of other websites and spend most of my spare time doing actual research or reading :-)

I am also one of the writers of a blog about the history of cartography, but that's in Dutch.

Hi Everyone - I am new to this group but been on Library Thing for a year or two. I love my history as can been seen by my one-track reading list. I have a blog where I have put on various stuff I have collected about local and family history. Still have lots to put on but never seem to have the time. http://fazakerleyhistory.blogspot.com/

I have a politics, economics and history blog:
www.clearerthantruth.wordpress.com
Most of it deals with very recent history, though.
