So who's been watching the Olympics? I have and just love it. I'm not sports fan, but when the Olympics roll around, I'm glued to the screen, cheering for everyone from swimmers to weight lifters. As you may know, Dana Torres is the woman to watch this year, with her 41-year-old body and athletic ability of a 19-year-old. Her story is fantastic, but she's definitely not the only athlete above 40 trying to prove herself. W. Hodding Carter recently came out with his book, Off the Deep End about his journey to the Olympics as a 45-year-old (check out the subtitle, it's a kicker!) I offered the book as part of the Early Reviewers program a while back, so some of you may have read that. After meeting Hodding, I came to appreciate him more (perhaps it was his immaturity!) He unfortunately didn't make it to the Olympics (obviously), but he's already training for the next one. Did any of you read the book?

No, not here. I haven't watched even a minute of them. I was visiting a friend yesterday and I did watch some of the opening on her gigantic projection tv.
It was something!

I honestly was not a fan of that book. He just ticked me off with his self absorption, and the way his family got left in the dust. Sounds like he is still at it...

I have not watched any of the Olympics either. I quit watching any network TV a while back and have not missed it. We only watch PBS and borrow movies from the library. I respect the work all of the athletes have done but I just don't want to buy into the commercialism that goes along with it.
