LibraryThing members are really getting behind this book, and I couldn't be more thrilled by the support! We're excited for the release of My Father's Paradise (Sept. 16), so are glad to be receiving such raves reviews.

If you're not familiar with the book, take some time to see if it's up your alley. But more importantly, you should check out this piece that Ariel Sabar wrote for the New York Times Sunday Magazine--that's what truly won me over for both him and My Father's Paradise. It's such a beautiful, almost dreamlike piece. You can find the essay here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/17/magazine/17lives-t.html?_r=1&ref=magazine&...

Oh, that takes me back to how fantastic the book was. I can't wait to see him next Thursday!

That reminds me, he has a MASSIVE tour, so if you're interested in hearing him read, see if he's coming to a venue near you: http://www.algonquin.com/authors/event_search.pl?author=12379&rm=search_resu...

I just read and loved this book, too! I've been recommending it and I wrote a review of it on my blog just today. I wish I was going to be in one of the places he'll be reading.

So I just realized that he's no longer doing next Thursday's event AT Book Stall, which would be much closer. Oh well, I already told my husband to fend for himself for dinner, so I'd might as well go ahead and go.

I'm hoping I can get him to sign my ARC...

The book looks so fantastic. with this and that I haven't had a chance to read my ARC but I am so looking forward to reading and sharing it with my temple library patrons!

So, I just got back from Ariel Sabar's book event north of Chicago, and it was great! The talk and the reading were fantastic, Ariel did a great job answering everyone's questions, and he even did a signing. I have to say, though, that my favorite part was talking to Ariel when he was signing my book. I brought a printout of my review from my blog and he actually remembered my review, said he thought it was the first one he read for his book, and included something about that in the signing. I'll post about the whole thing on my blog tomorrow.

I'm only about halfway through, but I think it's fantastic so far. I'm impressed with the amount of research he's put into this. I wish I could go to the book signing near by, but weekdays + events don't work for me sadly. Best of luck to him!

Ariel is just at the tip of the iceberg with his tour and it's going GREAT! He had 180 people show up at one event! It's not only wonderful to see the response he's receiving from readers, but it's also wonderful to hear about how he treats his readers (message #7). Thanks for sharing that!

The book is amazing. I'm so glad it's been getting so much attention! I'm getting it for my temple library on our next book order- I can't wait to turn more people on to it.
