here is a library thing question: How does one 'tag' their books? I saw that I can edit a book and add in a tag, is there an easier way to do it, or is it all manual...

There are 2 main ways of adding tags besides manual one by one tagging.
1) In the "Your library" tab there is a circle icon with a pencil on it (it is to the right of the circle printer icon and to the left of the “search your library” text bar). This brings you into power edit mode. Here you can add tags in bulk by selecting books.) This used in combination with the “search your library” makes tagging easier.
2) More advanced you can export your library to excel, and add tags to it that way. Then import your library back up to LT. This would be useful if you had a big or complicated library or wanted to write some fancy excel equation to do some auto tagging.

jdgough:
Also note the "PowerEdit" mode, which will allow you to do searches/sorts on your library and do mass tagging operations, which is a middle ground between the options kurtabeard offered.
If you've not done so, you might have a look at one of the many philosophical discourses on tagging. Wikipedia has a page on tagging, which is worth a look... wiki:tag, wiki:Folksonomy.
One of the original implementations of tagging was del.icio.us. Also, there is discussion of this stuff from our fearless leader, Tim Spalding, in the blog.
