i tried to add some books from amazon, but it isn't working and keeps asking 'You must select a data source (Amazon, Library of Congress, etc.)' even though a source is selected and i've obviously come from the source.

I get the same message, regardless if I use the bookmarklet on amazon.de, amazon.co.uk or amazon.com.
Can somebody fix this?

People have been complaining about the Amazon bookmarklet for almost two years. User timepiece wrote a OpenSearch plugin for the search box (usually in the upper-right corner of the browser). I wrote a Firefox extension to do something similar.

Those options can be found here:

I also have been experiencing this problem for more than two weeks. It's not convenient.

Since I have some knowledge about CGI, if I could know the specification of LibraryThings /addbooks.php CGI, I might be able to modify the bookmarklet by myself and make available for everyone...

Are there anyone who know well about addbooks.php CGI? I added "source=" option to it and tried CGIs like "/addbooks.php&bm=1&isbn=xxxxxxxxx&source=Amazon", but the same thing happend.

9> I don't think the problem is with the bookmarklet - so re-creating it isn't likely to fix the issue. There seems to be a problem with the method by which the page stores/recalls your default source.

AndrewB> Thank you for your answer. Then, only LibraryThing staffs can fix this problem? I wonder why they keep ignoring this problem such a long time...

I think because they are currently working on a complete rewrite.

I've been having this problem for about a month maybe more) -- the bookmarklet used to work fine, but I'm getting the same error message. Frustrating

Can you elaborate? I just re-added the bookmarklet, and it still doesn't seem to be working.

I've created a work-around version of the bookmarklet that's working for me:

This message editor won't let me paste the link here directly, so I've put up a simple page on my site with the link: http://abundantmedia.com/public/lt-link.html

Hope it helps!
