Is anyone attending the Atwood events for the Word on the Street festivals in Kitchener or Toronto?

I got to Kitchener Public Library by 8:45am this morning for the 9am ticket distribution and there was already a long line-up. By the time I got to the front of the line, all the auditorium seats were sold out. However, I managed to snag two of the last tickets for the live video feed in an adjacent room. A minute after I got my tickets, they announced that all tickets were gone and there were at least 50 disappointed people behind me in line. I knew this event would be popular, but I didn't expect the tickets to go this quickly!

Oh no! My best friend's fiance was going to get tikets for us, and I haven't heard from either of them yet; I hope he wasn't it that disappointed group!

I'll probably get to the Word on the Street but not the Sept 24 event.

Did you manage to get tickets, Cait?

I went to the Kitchener reading yesterday, and it was terrific! This was the first time I saw Margaret Atwood live, and it confirmed my belief that she's an extremely intelligent, interesting and witty woman. I got my copy of Year of the Flood signed too.

It was a great weekend overall. Today, I went to Kitchener's Word on the Street festival, which probably pales in comparison to the Toronto event. I'll have to make the trip to that one some year! However, I got to attend a reading and have books signed by Shane Peacock, one of my and my daughter's current faves.

I didn't :(

I'm glad it was a worthwhile event though, and I am very jealous! Hopefully there will be something later in the year that I can attend.
