I just found out about this book and was wondering if anyone has read it yet. And if so, what did you think about it? How do all feel about other people using her characters and adding Zombies and Sea Monsters? It makes me kind of wonder how she would've felt about this herself. I bet she would be proud to know that her books and characters are read and loved as much today as they were in her time. First there was Pride And Prejudice And Zombies now Sense And Sensibility And Sea Monsters. What next, Mansfiled Park Vampires, Northanger Abbey Werewolves?

I might try to pick up these books sometime and give them a chance to see how well I actually like them.

My sister read P&P&Z and said that I wouldn't like it, and as she knows me better than most and I trust her completely, I won't be reading it or S&S&SeaMonsters. But she has that one too, so she'll let me know if it's any better.

My sister's review of it is as follows:
All this book did was make me appreciate the original so much more. I felt like both Lizzie and Darcy's characters were altered to the point of being unrecognizable and by page 100 I was hoping that they'd buy it at the end. The beauty of Elizabeth Bennett as written by Jane Austen is that she is a woman of strong character, and it is her character that allows her to make herself heard without being overbearing. Making her a blood-thirsty martial arts expert ruins that and felt completely countered to her actual personality. I tend to think the author of the new bits is a bit misogynistic, which is why to him a "strong woman" must be overtly strong with no internal struggles about her calling. A true strong woman is strong because she submits to her calling despite her reservations. The bawdy jokes are what ruined Mr. Darcy for me.

I would have been quite happy with a romp through the English countryside, cutting down armies of zombies if they had just left Lizzie alone.

I'm almost done with this book and I like it. I think the publisher listened to the complaints of some readers of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies that the story was all Jane's with some zombies/martial art fights thrown in. S&S&SM has added story lines and locations while keeping the Elinor and Edward and Marianne, Willoughby and Brandon romances. By the way, I love the cover-it's Marianne and Brandon.

i have started reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies recently, and so far i like it for a few different reasons: 1st, i think it will intrigue teens who are into sci-fi/fantasy generas and give them that aspect of it, but also introduce them to the author or the original book. 2nd i think it is very clever, and entertaining to read. no, it isn't half as good as the original novel, but then again think of how many teens have read this! its kindof exciting to me.
i will admit though Mandy2 is right about the alterations of Mr. Darcy, but to me Elizabeth's character was altered quite a bit more than his.
i think it is new and fun... i am quite looking forward to reading Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters :)
