My daughters dog, Gracie is swollen up in her jowls today for some reason. Mary called me to ask if I'd ever heard of this. Her jowls are swollen as tho she were holding a pingpong ball in the side of her mouth, She's eating and drinking and doesn't seem to be in any pain. Mary is keeping a close eye on her and will run her to the vet at the first sign of distress but I wonder if any of you have an idea. I think its an allergic reaction to something.

Hmmm... I have no idea. It does sound like an allergic reaction.

If you have an emergency veterinary hospital in your area, it might be a wise idea to call and get their take on this situation. Dogs are notorious for hiding distress, so by the time the dog shows distress, the problem could be well advanced.

Best of luck!

I agree talking with an emergency vet place is indicated. Very unusual symptom and I would want to know. I have three dogs and spend a lot of time with dogs...have not seen this happen.

That is great! Gotta love a vet who practices common sense and home remedies before expensive testing!
