I noticed this announcement in the flyer in the latest Biannually (No. 7):

The Persephone Biannually: two issues are sent free of charge; thereafter, unless the recipient buys a book, we send no further free copies. Copies of PQs No. 1-32 and PBs No. 1-6 are £1.00 each including postage or £35 for all of them.

I am in Australia and buy all my Persephones from The Book Depository (with free delivery), to avoid the £6.00 airmail fee. Hence, I've never purchased directly from Persephone, so I guess PB No. 7 will be my last. There was no mention of the international postage for PBs in future, I imagine it will be more than £1.00.

On a more positive note, I am delighted to read in this issue that the PB Autumn 2010 books will include Monica Dickens and Margaret Oliphant reprints. And the 'Diary' of endpapers sounds interesting! :)

I'm also very interested in the prospective reprints--I read Oliphant's Miss Marjoribanks this winter and enjoyed her writing style. And, having read Mariana last spring, I'm excited that Persephone will be bringing out another of Monica Dickens's books.

Not sure about the postage for PBs, internationally. I think it's pretty much always been like that, though. How long have you been receiving the Biannually? I've received numbers 6 and 7 free of charge when I filled out their online form last fall.

I was also delighted that an excerpt of my review of The Carlyles at Home was reprinted in the Blogger section of the Biannually!

As I'd been receiving the Biannually since No. 3 (Spring/Summer 2008) I'd (mistakenly) assumed the announcement about further free copies was new! I confess I haven't paid much attention to the insert in previous PBs. Obviously I've slipped under the radar somehow and shall have to order a book from them directly to appease my conscience!

Congratulations, on the inclusion of your review in the current PB, Kasthu. I'm off to check out your blog!

It is funny I just got my Biannually next week and was feeling guilty I had not ordered directly. I am thinking of ordering three books to be supportive and assuage my guilt but I am struggling to decide which ones. I have mostly the non-gray paperback versions I have been able to buy in the states. Any one want to share their favorites and help me decide on my three books?

I was a bit disappointed neither Ali nor I had a review in this time, but I don't think I for one read and reviewed many Persephones in the time they were probably setting it all up. Maybe next time.

I'm excited about the news of some sort of Forum with online discussions, and I've read the first two books lined up. Plus another Monica Dickens reprint in the autumn.

#4> Maren, Miss Buncle's Book should definitely be one of them, it is quite entertaining.

Thanks Paola, I have been reading over the list and this was on my short list so you have tipped it into my three.

>8 Marensr: Maren, if you haven't placed your order yet, don't forget to include your request for the free Persephone Classic (while they last)!
