New York, January 15, 2012 — The Jewish Book Council announced the winners of the 2012
National Jewish Book Awards today, naming author and Nobel Prize–winning neuropsychiatrist
Professor Eric R. Kandel as the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the
author of illuminating books, including In Search of Memory (W. W. Norton & Company) and
The Age of Insight (Random House). Kandel’s early memories as a Jewish boy living in Austria
at the onset of World War II served as the catalyst for In Search of Memory, his award-winning
exploration of the life of the mind. Kandel will be the keynote speaker at the awards event.

Thank you very much, bergs 47. I'm a Jew of Romanian origin, who lives in Italy since 1947. At age 82 I will not be able to read many of the books listed by you - I ignored till today even the existance of the awards and of this LT thread - but even perusing the list is enthralling.
