- This community-oriented branch in the Elmwood section of West Hartford, CT offers a complete array of services.
Special features include:
A WELCOME CENTER featuring books and DVD’s in the primary 4 non- English languages spoken in the area (Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Vietnamese), plus materials on learning English. Community members were involved in the selection of these materials.
Regular programs include:
- A weekly drop-in English conversation class (PRACTICE ENGLISH)
- A monthly poetry-writing group (FAXON POETS)
- An ongoing RACE MATTERS film and book discussion series
- A monthly adult book discussion
- Occasional “coffee talks” to meet with community leaders
- Innovative family and children’s programs and storytimes, featuring one of our most popular events — an annual outdoor screening of a family film projected onto the wall of the adjacent Puritan Furniture building.
