Closed, after a fire, in 1999. I was inspired to add it after finding the Facebook group Waterstone's Boston stole my youth. I never worked there either, but it stole my youth too.

I am truly sorry to hear about the fire. I remember going there often, as it stayed open until quite late, during my college years in the early 1990s. Still exists in the UK and Europe. Not sure why it was not re-opened at the same location.
If you happen to be in London, these are the best ones:

You will also find it in Amsterdam and Brussels.

It was a wonderful bookstore with a great reading series and I was able to take B&W photographs of many of the authors;) remember the reopening after the fire! There's lots of waterstones in Uk (they were taken over by wh smith for a while I believe)
Was reminded of Waterstones after attending my local library book sale the other day as well as going through prints of the authors

I, too, do not recall a fire. I do recall that Waterstones shut it down and decided its only American presence would be in airports.

it was a great bookstore in the brief time it was here.

Waterstone's Boston was quite something. I didn't know about the fire; so sorry to hear.
