This is the only one of the series I have read and it will most likely stay that way unless I see one ridiculously cheap somewhere. I did enjoy the book. It was a quick and easy read and felt like it had more plot and was better written than the previous Mills and Boon books I’ve read (although I haven’t read many so this might be an over generalisation). The most disappointing part of the book was that it all seemed too easy for them. There was a lack of conflict. I think that the end of the book dragged on a little. It should have had the plot wrapped up before the two main characters became ‘happy ever after’. The sex I felt was good, until near the very end when it seemed to end abruptly. The secondary characters were all one dimensional, apart from maybe the Gypsy, however as I hadn’t been expecting them to have much depth I wasn’t particularly disappointed. Didn't enjoy this one as much but there wasn't an obvious reason for it as I think the story itself stood up to the first one. I also liked the hero and heroine's characters. Perhaps it was the series long plot which I found was given more prominence in this story than in the first one and it was a little distracting from that of the main couple. Since buying this book the other day on Barnes and Noble Nook, this book has given me the hardest time reading. The book is very slow to begin with but it is still pretty good. Well written, not very long which makes me believe that the author really needs a quicker pace in the book. But in the long run she did an OK of a job on writing the characters and the plot. The plot was good, the description of the plot is what made me want to buy the book and read it. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
"Chaperon Diana Price knew she was teetering on the edge of ruin. Her father had staked his fortune, and her virginity, at the card table--and lost! To the most notorious gamester in town ... Nathan Wardale had money, plenty of it, but it was a long time since he'd been considered a gentleman. Still he never intended to pursue this debt. Until he met Diana Price in the flesh--and began to wonder just how long his honor would hold out"--P. [4] of cover. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

I enjoyed this book. Nathan and Diana made a lovely couple. I liked some of the secondary characters, (Verity and Honoria) and I’m looking forward to reading their stories. I liked how they tried to play matchmaker for Diana and Nathan. And then there was the mysterious gypsy. I read this book first, it is part of a series “Silk & Scandal”, and even though I found it easy enough to follow, it’s probably best to read the books in order because the storyline continues.
Another sweet read by Christine Merrill. ( )
