Set smack dab in Portland and lots of fun Oregon tidbits at the top of each chapter. Tess gains three forest children and Sophia Lady Lucia's daughter. In the end she also gets the love of her life Gollum. Interesting, fast paced story, wonder where she'll take Tess and Scrap next? ( )

Celestial Blade Warrior, Tess and, her imp, Scrap, psychically linked as they are, have been going through some emotional turmoil. Both were injured while trying to take down of a forest demon that has been violating women for some time and taking the resulting offspring to raise as his own tribe. Tess has been in mourning of a broken heart for the past year and a half with the loss of her true love, Gollum, her aide and archivist, after he returns to the needs of his mentally unstable wife. The depression has been weighing her down, affecting her writing career and her life as a Celestial Blade Warrior.
Another old flame, Donovan Estevez, half demon, returns to complicate her li fe even more with his proposals of marriage and hidden agendas.
The curveballs that Life is throwing at Tess, in the form of women and children in need of help, finally knock some sense into her and she is on the path of kicking some demon buttocks.
I had a hard time getting into the story until I combed through the first few chapters, got used to the rhythm of the story telling and all of the characters. I read the first in the series, HOUNDING THE MOON, a few years ago and fell for Tess and Scrap pretty much immediately. Tess, once she regains control of her life, is a strong, independent, and compassionate woman. Her imp, Scrap, is the perfect foil for Tess’ serious nature.
There have been two books in between and I lost some of the feel for the characters at the beginning of this, the fourth adventure.
Once I found my sword and sorcery footing, I was just fine and the story flowed most excellently. I added books 2 and 3, MOON IN THE MIRROR and FAERY MOON, to the WWBL, and cannot wait to catch what I missed in between adventures 1 and 4 and can't wait to read adventure 5 whenever that comes out.
