Here's what I wrote in 2008 about this read: "A current, simple American read. Sisters with problems, working through them, great grandmother, family & love prevails. Was made into a movie as well." ( ![]() would do a 3.5....good summer read about sisters. didn't realize there was a movie! The story of Maggie and Rose Feller is not one I would have gravitated naturally to. While I do enjoy a feel-good story, I am more one to go towards mystery and true crime. This novel had been sitting on my shelf for quite some time, as I had inherited it from one of my aunts. Thank goodness for the ready harder challenge, because who knows when I would have picked it up otherwise. I loved the character development and the fact that you feel like you know these characters. It was easy to feel for them in their struggles and heartache. There was not much of a plot really, it was mainly a story of growing apart and finding a way back to each other. Rose and Maggie were wonderful representations of modern-day sisterhood, and the struggles one has with siblings. I do wish that the stepmother in the story had more of a presence to better explain her actions, other than a seeming quick explanation near the end of the book. The romance is subtle and very much real to life which I loved. Nothing against unrealistic romance novels, but it was nice to see normal relationships. I highly recommend this to anyone who is unsure if they are into Family driven stories or Contemporary Romance. Based on the beginning, I didn’t think I was going to like it, but it surprised me multiple times and I enjoyed it. A relationship story with more depth than most. Totally understood Rose the serious lawyer, liked finding out the thinking of the free spirit sister Maggie, took awhile to figure out the importance of the senior citizens. I liked how all of their lives grew and changed especially where it started with college life for Maggie and what was Ella's role in the story. Good theme of how important sisters and having a family are to life. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
