Stan Duncan does a fine job of presenting the history and current state of globalization in a way accessible to the layman without being too "dumbed down". Duncan also manages to keep a very evenhanded tone. The book is also well researched and well documented, and while he makes it clear that it is also a religious book - he devotes a chapter to analyzing Biblical and historical parallels between our current globalization and the early Jewish economy - it is much more compelling as a economic overview. An Exposé of How Third-World Debt came about and of how economic globalization has resulted in a devastating network of injustice. In the words of the author, "Something [is] fundamentally wrong with our present global economic situation. The corporate and political powers have contorted and stacked the decks of the financial machinery that runs the earth in such a way that rewards the rich and extracts payments from the poor." Duncan's text helps readers understand global economic forces at work, and he connects the dots between what happens "here" and what happens "there." Book jacket.
