I only had to read the first few sentences on the first page to realise that GBS is my hero!
"There would not be any kings or emperors, or any trousered presidents, in the world if Mr George Bernard Shaw had his way. There would only be queens, empresses and other rulers of the feminine persuasion on thrones, and every head of a republic would be either a Mrs or a Miss."
(OK this was written a while ago and I'm sure there's be nothing wrong with an empress being trousered, or even a Ms).
I would like to quote the whole interview:
..."A woman can manage men much more effectively than a man can, and gets them to work more intelligently and more loyally. The majority of male rulers and heads of Republics pick the most obviously unfitted persons for offices of state. As a rule women do their choosing much better."...

Selected Hayden Church interviews with George Bernard Shaw between age 68 and 90. Shaw talks about writing, Hitler, the theatre, the human lifespan, political systems, and many other topics. A taste of Shaw in this collection - probably not enough for a student of the playwright, but a good peek for anyone interested in getting an introduction to the old curmudgeon. At 88 pages, a quick, delightful read.
