It is a truly nostalgic book for an adult, flooding the reader's mind with childhood memories as they turn to each new page. This was a very calming, relaxing book to read and I think it would be good to read to children who like to be outside. I actually learned about a couple of rocks that I didn't know about before reading this. This book places a lot of sentimental value in such a basic item in nature and by the end I felt very strongly about certain rocks that I've found. ( )

If You Find a Rock is a book that is more so sweet rather than informational. Before reading this book, I thought I was going to be learning about the different types of rocks we may see and useful information about them. Fortunately, this book was a lot better than what I had expected. Although each rock in this book doesn't teach us exactly what each rock is, it will give young readers a sense of hope while reading about these rocks. The illustrations in the book are photographed by Barbara Hirsch Lember, and they are each beautiful and a little more informational than the text. If I were to read this book in my class, I may have a guide book about rocks in hand that will properly identify each rock in the book; this way the students will be able to have an accurate science lesson in the end, and can still enjoy the sweet hopeful book about the beauty rocks bring to the world.
