Fantasy. Romance. Young Adult Fiction. HTML:From the limitless imagination of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julie Kagawa, The Iron Fey series continues.
My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn.
I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court.
And I am dead to her.
My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl...

To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl—smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight.
Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive and with the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a quest to find a way to honor his vow to stand by Meghan's side.
To survive in the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. And along the way Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that sometimes it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Prelim REview: I'll be in the minority, but I thought the end of Book 3 suited things. The Iron Knight serves as a good way to see into Ash's head and to give readers the ending they wanted in The Iron Queen, but is otherwise not anything I would get excited over again.

This is the final book in the Iron Fey series, and it did not disappoint. The very beginning was a little slow until Ash got going on his journey, but after that, it went pretty quickly. There were surprises and tests around every turn. Julie Kagawa does a great job building these stories, developing the characters and story-lines, and creating the different Faery Realms. Fans of the series will be glad to get a story completely from Prince Ash's point of view and get a glimpse into his past and his relationships with those around him. We see very little of Meghan in this one, as Ash is on his own personal journey and she is ruling in the Iron Kingdom (if you're reading this review, I'm assuming you've read the other books already and know this). This one does skip forward into the future so we get a glimpse of if there will be a happy ever after or not.

My only complaint is that the book itself has the rough-edged pages (deckled) and I am not a fan of that at all. I'm sure there was a reason that they made that decision, and it is definitely a personal opinion, I know some people like that kind of thing. I, however, am not one of those people lol. Do not let that deckling keep you from reading the book, it's still a great story.

All in all, this is a great ending to the Iron Fey saga. Prince Ash had quite a bit of development and maturity, and there are other loose ends tied up. If you like the rest of the series, or if you're looking for a new series to read, then I would definitely recommend this one. There's a love story, action, magic, sword fighting, monsters...it's got it all. ( )

DID NOT FINISH.

After reading the first three of the Iron Series, I was a little shocked when this arrived and I found it to be from the point of view of Ash. Part of me was alright about the idea as it offered a little insight from another perspective and most of me was very annoyed...I mean who just changes perspective through a series???

So after putting my disappointment out of the way and starting the book my worst fears were beginning to take shape....WHAT A FUCK UP....to put it bluntly. (is swearing allowed here??)

I didn't like Ash in the series anyway. I much prefer Puck, mostly because he isn't a brooding boring ass hat that has no personality and bugger all worth reading about. In fact Puck is probably one of the most formed characters in the series that is believable and fun.

Now I am in Ash's head and its nothing but doom and gloom. Like this guy is going to make you want to kill yourself if you can make it through the first 10 chapters.
Puck tries to put light into the book but all efforts fall flat and the more Ash speaks the more I am grinding my teeth wishing he had been eaten by a goat on steroids. Honestly, i find his voice to be far to bland and serious, and any conversation between him and Puck usually gets dropped mid way not reaching any sort of conclusion or point.

So.. ready to give up I come on here to read spoiler reviews (thanks guys!) and I dont feel that skipping out of this book is a bad thing.

I have decided not to push myself to depression by reading this crappy should not exist book and I will instead try my luck with Ethan's point of view in the wonderful world of Faery. However I am willing to wait a few weeks or so before picking it up...especially after this disaster of a book.

Although, I have noticed the epilogue is in Megans voice once more, so I may just read the last bit since the spoilers enlightened me to the point of the book.

So deeply disappointed *sigh*
