Oof. The best yet. ( )

Man.

Jeff Lemire just keeps doing it. I don't know how but he does.

This volume is haunting and disconcerting and grips my heart and squeezes it tight.

This volume was particularly fast-paced compared to the other ones, which I liked, but sometimes the abruptness of the story almost got in the way. I have questions that I still want answered!

But I loved it. I'm so invested in these characters. This is set in a post-apocalyptic world with a mysterious, unsolvable plague and a place where no one trusts anyone and everyone is awful.

AND YET I have hope, in every part, every page, every panel.

Jeff Lemire knows how to write hope. And I love him and hate him for it. ( )

I've said it once and I'll say it again...this series is amazing. The loss of innocence in this volume was just so poignant. Readers are also introduced to more of the "world after" which I personally always find so fascinating in these types of stories. ( )

I do like the art and coloring in these graphic novels. While the story was interesting, a take on the apocalypse that I haven't seen before, it didn't really grab my attention until this third volume. ( )
