Ian Wilson is the World's foremost expert on the history of the Shroud. Barrie Schwortz was the official photographer for the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP), a team of scientists employed by various organizations such as the US Air Force Academy, NASA, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Medical community including Forensic Pathologists and Blood Porphyrins.

STURP conducted a battery of tests on the Turin Shroud in 1978 thus leading to the controversial Carbon 14 Dating tests conducted by several research universities in 1988.

The book offers a pictorial array of photographs of the Turin Shroud as well as photgraphs of the scientific testing and microscopic detail. ( )

A wonderful book to begin your study of the Turin Shroud. Be mindful that Ian Wilson tends to be biased toward the possibility that the shroud is indeed the shroud of Jesus Christ. ( )

Ian Wilson writes an exemplary work about the research completed on the shroud. He uses a completely logical and scientific approach in the book. He makes it no secret of his belief of the authenticity of the shroud but he is diligent in expressing the scientific research in an unbiased fashion.

Packed with the basic information one needs to begin an exploration of the shroud, I suggest this be the first book to read. ( )

Two decades after radiocarbon dating declared the Turin Shroud a mediaeval fake, brand-new historical discoveries strongly suggest that this famous cloth, with its extraordinary photographic imprint, is genuinely Christ's shroud after all.

In 1978 in his international bestseller The Turin Shroud Ian Wilson ignited worldwide public debate with his compelling case endorsing the shroud's authenticity. Now, 30 years later, he has completely rewritten and updated his earlier book to provide fresh evidence to support his original argument. Shroud boldly challenges the current post-radiocarbon dating view - that it is a fake. By arguing his case brilliantly and provocatively, Ian Wilson once more throws the matter into the public arena for further debate and controversy. ( )

On the face of it, the very idea that the linen cloth in which Jesus christ was wrappedin the tomb should have survived to this day would seem incredible.
