I'm not generally into this type of fantasy type book, but it was a decent read. Not sure if I'll be reading the rest of the series, but I'm glad I did read this one. ( )

A different slant on the paranormal. The camera is the medium while Mark is the in-between man, trying to save those who need saving.

Taking a picture and then trying to save the target isn't all that is happening in this story. A secondary story thread has Homeland Security convinced he is a terrorist because he has been in the Middle East, where he found the camera and then with his early arrival at the scene. Since he won't explain about the camera, this makes it worse for him.

A fascinating read but scary. ( )

Mark Taylor, photographer, finds more trouble than he can imagine when he uses the antique camera that takes pictures of future disasters and tries to change the outcome after the dreams that come just after he develops the pictures. He becomes a terrorist in the eyes of the security agencies of the US and is isolated and interrogated. The interrogation techniques are almost too graphic to be read. This gripping novel explores the angst of our times -- terrorism, interrogation, agency cooperation, losing everything, but gradually brings it up to a successful ending. Mark's friend Julie and his main interrogator make their way into the final denoument of the book. ( )

I started this book by mistake. I was organizing my books in Calibre and this didn't pull up any description so I opened it and read the first paragraph, page, chapter and on and on until it was time for bed. It's just that good.
The book starts with a pulse pounding dash to save a baby from drowning. Later you learn about the hero's premonitions of danger and how it brings him to the attention of the CIA. He gets held as a person of interest with no rights and is subjected to torture. If you are on the line as to whether water-boarding is something America should use to break people, the description should settle that for you. The book certainly gives you something to think about.
This is a wonderful, face paced book that teaches you a few things about PTSD, torture and forgiveness. I can't recommend it highly enough. ( )
