A few of the photos were somewhat better than in the two earlier books in the series but some of them were still too dark to see any detail. These aren't ghost photos, these are just ordinary photos of the outside of the buildings in daylight. Some of the hauntings were just not all that convincing. To be specific: On page xii there is a place in the woods that might be the site of an old burial ground where "In the dead of the night, strange sounds emanate..." The author grew up in Staten Island. Up here, where we have foxes, bobcats, owls and coy dogs all over the place, strange sounds emanate everywhere in the dead of the night. Silence would be weirder. The information about the hauntings is often really vague. The Chester House ghost is a nameless New York City actor who hung himself. If he was an actor, what's his name? If not a name, then a role he played. Come on, give us something to work with here. The most mysterious thing in the book is a private home/camp owned by wealthy publisher, Colonel Edward Simmons. The camp was named "Albedor" after his three daughters, Aline, Betty and Doris. The home, built in 1928, had 14 bedrooms and 12 1/2 bathrooms! Holy Moly! Why in heaven's name did 13 people all need to use the toilet at the same time?? sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
