While not one of the best picture books I've ever read, this one did have a pretty great message towards the end and phenomenal illustrations throughout the book. It does incorporate a somewhat harder reading level with the crazy drawings of a Tyrannosaurus doing normal everyday things. This would no doubt keep kids entertained and give them a challenge while reading. It promotes toward the end of the book that "family comes first"(before work) which is great for kids to understand. Tobias has a dinosaur as a dad. How cool? T-Dad is very busy with work, but Tobias just wants to spend time with him. Tobias is upset when field day comes along, but T-Dad doesn't go to school with him. An uproar occurs, and to the rescue comes T-Dad. Tobias is so happy. Tobias is thankful for his dad. T-Dad says family comes first. T-Dad evolves from the non-stop working dad to taking a break and spending time with his son. ( )

Tyrannosaurus Dad is a cute story about an ordinary boy named Tobias who had a lot of similarities with his dad besides the looks. Tobias' father is a Tyrannosaurus and a scary one at that. The neighbors, strangers on the salesman walking down the street irritated him and he let him know it. But to Tobias, he knew he would be safe. His dad protected him a night from scary noises or spiders while he was sleeping. But unfortunately, his dad was always busy to work and couldn't make it to the Family Field Day that Tobias really wanted him to go to. Thankfully, when things were going wrong, Tyrannosaurus dad showed up and saved the day. This story can relate to many kids They may not feel close to their parents and their parents may be workaholics. I know for myself I'm way closer to my mom than my dad. But my dad and I do have a good relationship and we connect when were watching sports or old movies. I know he will always be there for me when I need him, just like the Tyrannosaurus Dad. Tobias changes toward the end of the story. He at first is sometimes embarrassed of his dad because he is so big and scary but at the end when his dad saves the day he is now proud to say that's his dad. The illustrations in the book are very cute and detailed and kids will love this story. They will probably crack up laughing imaging a dinosaur as a dad. ( )

Liz Rosenberg does a great job on this book. She tells the story of a no ordinary super busy dad who is also a Dinosaur. The story is about a boy that wants his busy father to give him some attention and come with him to the school's field day. Dad pretends to be busy but ends up showing at the school and saving the day. Very cute book to start a conversation about family relationships. ( )

Tobias is just a regular kid with an extraordinary dad. His dad is a Tyrannosaurus. He likes and does things that normal dads do, but he's obviously a little different than them. At family field day for Tobias' school when problems start to break out, dino-dad shows up to save the day. This is a story that younger kids will find absurd and hilarious. ( )
