Great story told by a imaginative young girl. Though the book has no words, the story it tells is still fantastic. This is a great book to get children interested in reading or doing a picture walk since it does not have any words. ( )

The pictures in this story were spectacular and really allowed the child to follow along with the plot without the need of written words! However, it is open for multiple interpretations of what is happening, which can promote creativity and variation when telling the story. I would use this story in about a first or second grade classroom to allow the students to make inferences about the events of the story, based on the pictures. That will teach them to use the context clues (pictures) to determine what is happening/aid understanding when reading a story. ( )

The illustrations are amazing in this book. The picture book really gives readers their own imagination on what the book could say within the pictures. his is a wonderful wordless picture book for summer. Children will love the colorful and realistic illustrations. Who doesn’t like building sandcastles at the beach? The book describes in pictures about a young girl going the beach and she decides to build a amazing sand castle. When she left to head home for the day, her sand castle sits alone, unprotected by the waves. We get to see the adventure that unfolds and go through what happens and what takes place once the castle becomes flooded with water is very hard to think about. However, the author reveals to the audience that there were miniature people living in the sand castle and now they have to escape from the crumbling sand castle. Do these miniature people survive? What does the girl do the next day? ( )

Wordless picture books are great for emergent readers in Kindergarten. They are able to create their own story how ever they want. I interpreted tiny people living in a sandcastle that soon become to all have their own personalities. ( )

A girl visiting the shore decides to build a magnificent sand castle. As she leaves to head home for the day, the sand castle sits alone, unprotected by the waves. The adventure that takes place once the castle becomes flooded with water is very thought-provoking.

The girl returns and decides to rebuild the sandcastle all over again. The story then repeats itself. It’s subtle, but the message to me focuses on the fact that our actions can and will bring on specific consequences.

The cover and title really pulled me in when I saw this on the shelf. I just had to grab it. This is a wonderful wordless picture book for summer. Children will love the colorful and realistic illustrations.
