Loved this book full of novellas in the Guild Hunter world. Each story was a treat. Fans will love getting the fist glimpses into characters who have come to mean a lot and those who haven’t started the series get a taste of the world; before it became something altogether different.

Angels’ Pawn - 5 Stars

This one we get a closer look at Ashwini, Elena’s Guild Hunter colleague and Janvier. It’s a little moment in time with these two; before they get their full Novel [b:Archangel's Shadows|17409835|Archangel's Shadows (Guild Hunter, #7)|Nalini Singh|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1394162943s/17409835.jpg|24252401].

In Archangel’s Shadow they mentioned this moment this assignment briefly and it made me want to find out more on the backstory of Ash and Janvier’s relationship.

Ash is smart, tough, and can kick ass. She also has some “talent” or a curse, depending on who looks at it. Janvier is the ban in her existence. She’s hunted him in the past, but here he stands by her side for a Guild assignment. He has a talent for making friends with anybody.

Angels’ Pawn focuses on the action rather then the romance. The chemistry is their and we Sigh does a wonderful job giving us a taste of, Ash and Janvier's, budding teasing flirtatious relationship. As for the world it's terrifying and riveting.

I loved Angels’ Pawn.

Angels’ Judgement - 5 Stars

This one we get Sara Haziz story. She is a human-born Guild Hunter who later becomes the Guild Director for America. Before she becomes the Director she is sent on a mission and tested by the Archangel’s - The Cadre. But, she’s not alone. Yummy, Deacon is at her side. He’s their to offer protection and to help Sarah on her mission.

It's action-packed and gritty. I loved every moment of it. They are hunting one of their own, a Guild Hunter who may or may not have gone off the deep end. Sarah uses her mind along with her crossbow to her advantage. Deacon was a amazing. He does his job well, but he can also be light and funny. The chemistry was off the charts with these two and those love scenes, steamy.

Angels’ Judgement was a treat. It was wonderful to see Sarah and Deacon become lovers. This novella was perfect. Their is action, danger, blood, and romance.

Angels’ Dance - 5 Stars

If you have been reading the Guild Hunter series then you have caught glimpses of Galen and Jessamy, but in this novella, they shine.

I have been wanting their backstory for sometime. Galen is one of Raphael’s Seven. We get glimpses into him and what he does, but here we find out their is so much more to him. I loved Galen. He’s fierce, loyal, protective, and honorable. Jessamy is the teacher of angelic young, a library, and the keeper of angelic knowledge/archives. She’s fragile, strong willed, and has a strong heart.

Reading about these two was exquisite. They matched perfectly. The sexual tension was amazing. The writing is magnificent. The scenes are so vivd bring the characters and world to life.

Angels’ Dance was a beautiful crafted novella. I loved everything about this one.

Angels’ Wolf - 3.5 Stars

I read this in [b:Angels of Darkness|10557809|Angels of Darkness (Alphas, #0.5; Guild Hunter, #3.5; The Guardians, #7.5; Samaria)|Ilona Andrews|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327938643s/10557809.jpg|12785399].

I enjoyed this short story. I liked both Nimra the Angel and Noel the Vampire. Nimra needs help and Raphael sends Noel, but he thinks he’s been cast aside; because of what happened to him. Both of them needed healing in different ways and they come to find what they need in each other.

Angel’s Wolf is a sweet, sad, and enjoyable read.

I loved this anthology. Some of the stories I liked more than others, but I'd highly recommend this anthology to anyone who has read the first two novels in the Guild Hunter series. If you've read more than that, then you'll enjoy these novellas even more. ( )

Angel’s Wolf (Noel and Nimra) - I really enjoyed this one, though maybe because I was listening to the audiobook and I adore that format. I liked the mystery aspect and the wounded hero. Glad to know things worked out for Noel! (3 stars)

Angels’ Judgment (Sara and Deacon) - Great to have some backstory on these two, thought their settled domesticity is not so much something I am into. (3 stars)

Angels' Pawn (Ash and Janvier) - I love their antagonism! The "enemies" with a bite of lust bit is a big favorite of mine, to be sure (3.5 stars)

Angels’ Dance (Jessamy and Galen) - Yay! One of my absolute favorite tropes! Disabled heroine wooed by gruff warrior. I loved watching Jessamy come out of her shell. (4.5 stars)

Overall, a great anthology (3.5 stars is the average). I completely adore this series!!! ( )

This anthology consists of four short stories set in Singh's Guild Hunter universe. I skipped Angel's Judgment since I had already read it in [b:Must Love Hellhounds|6286042|Must Love Hellhounds (Includes Guild Hunter, #1.5; Kate Daniels, #3.5; The Guardians, #5.5; Sookie Stackhouse, #9.2)|Charlaine Harris|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1312520715s/6286042.jpg|6470221].

Angel's Wolf: 3.5

Nimra, the angel of Louisiana, discovers that she may have a traitor in her court after a cats dies from drinking an iced tea originally meant for her. Noel, the vampire who was tortured in [b:Archangel's Blade|8074967|Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4)|Nalini Singh|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327877499s/8074967.jpg|12787590], is sent to help her uncover her would-be murderer. Noel is still pretty screwed up from a brutal torture and is under the assumption that he's being sent down to Louisiana because he's broken. This just adds to his anger, so when he arrives at Nimra's court he's not the most pleasant person to be around. Noel was a pretty fascinating character and I loved watching him work through his issues. However, his relationship with Nimra didn't work all that well for me. I had a hard to believing the attraction between them. It didn't help that I found Nimra a little boring. She was a little too much of a sad-sack for me to get into her character. I felt for what she went through in the past and how the years have started to catch up with her, but I got tired of her constant depression. Even though it was refreshing to see a female angel in a position of power who wasn't bat-shit crazy. All in all, this was good short story but I wouldn't be in any rush to re-read it.

Angel's Pawn: 4

I think this was the shortest story in the anthology, but it was also one of the best. However, it doesn't have the traditional HEA the others do, but hopefully that just means that we'll eventually get a full book for Ashwini and Janvier.

If you've been reading the series, you'll recognize the characters Ashwini and Janvier since their odd relationship tends to occasionally get mentioned. Janvier is a Cajun vampire who likes to drive Ashwini crazy by intentionally breaking his contracts so that she's forced to hunt him down in the swamps. Then, just to piss her off, he typically turns himself in to the angel he offended after leading her on a merry chase that lasts for days. As the story starts in this one though, their circumstances have changed a bit. Instead of hunting him down because of a broken contract, Ashwini has come to Janvier to ask him to be her back-up in dealing with an angel that has specifically requested her help in a matter. This was a really great introduction to the characters and their relationship, but I wanted more... in a good way. Ashwini has some pretty powerful psychic abilities and the hinted at implications of that power was pretty intriguing. My only complaint is that Ashwini reminded me a little too much of Elena, both with the hints of her past and her attitude. So hopefully, if these two do eventually get their own book, Ms. Singh makes some strives to differentiate the two characters.

Angel's Dance: 4.5

This one follows the two angels, Jessamy & Galen. Jessamy has never been able to fly under her own power due to a deformed wing. Because of this, she has never left Refuge (basically a sanctuary for angels). She has also basically given up the hope of finding a mate since most of the angels around her were once kids she taught. That is until Galen appears and immediately sets his sights on her.

This was probably the best out of the book for me, which, in part, might be because it had the most page time. (Banking a little over 100 pages.) So both Jessamy and Galen were able to be fleshed out and their romance had more time to evolve. However, I think most of my enjoyment came from seeing a relationship centered around two angels, which is a first for Singh. I loved how even the dynamics in their relationship was since they were both on the same footing, culture-wise. This also lent to us seeing a softer view of the angel culture since there was no power plays or moral conflicts between human and angel going on. Instead, the majority of the conflict here centered on Jessamy's reluctance to get into a relationship with Galen as she believed that, due to her "deformity", she would hold him back. So this was a nice and fairly slow-burning romance. Side note: This one left me really wanting to see Keir, the angelic healer, get his own story. ( )
