Cinder (edição 2013)

I really liked this book! I usually don't understand and appreciate robot books, but I liked and understood this one! ( )

This is the best thing I have read after Harry Potter!!

Cyborg Cinderella - it sounded so perfect, I had to read it! It was a quick and very enjoyable read, and now I want to continue the series. The only part I did not particularly appreciate was the reference to whether she was, or was not, fertile. I understand that there is likely a reason for that reference, in future volumes, but it not only seemed out of place and pasted in, it was also offensive (to me.) ( )

A big twist on Cinderella that is placed in a future where there is not only a colony on the moon but moon people who can control "bioelectricity" and force Earthlings (and Lunars) to see and believe what they want. Earth is beset with a plague that has no cure and the Lunar Queen has been threatening war for over 12 years. Lihn Cinder is a cyborg mechanic with a rough life who gets sucked into medical research and inter-planetary intrigue.

Although it started slow for me, ("Really? Another outcast that has a crush on a prince and wishes she could go to the ball?") the action eventually picked up. Cinder was at times too "woe is me" but she performed enough heroic acts to balance it out. ( )
