Eternus by Kimberli Reynolds is addictive once you get beyond the slow beginning. The way it is written keeps you interested and more often than not has you wanting to break the greatest rule of reading ever -- to read the last page. There are so many questions brought out throughout the book that you just want answered but I get impatient and want them now... Nobody said I was perfect.

Rhiannon is an intriguing main character, mostly because she makes a lot of choices that I wouldn't have made. It doesn't make her unlikable but rather makes you wonder what the consequences and benefits would've been if she had acted like you had. She is a well-fleshed out character with a deep background story that through most of the story, you have little grasp on. Her relationship with Leone is mostly push-and-pull and doesn't receive a whole lot of development throughout the book; however, that doesn't make the book any less worth reading than it already is.

The friends and family throughout the book play a decent role throughout the book and I got attached to several of the characters. The author places a lot of surprising twists when it comes to character choice in some of the bigger moments of the book and caught me off-guard more than once. Her parents played bigger parts in the beginning and somewhat faded out towards the middle and they definitely were a great set of parents, well, as great as you can expect. There wasn't any really animosity between Rhiannon and her parents which I liked a lot.

The plot was fun and inventive, taking two common attributes of young adult literature and entwining them: vampires and reincarnation. I enjoyed reading it and all of its plot twists that came along.

A definite read. ( )

I won this book through LibraryThing Members Giveway.

This book is entertaining and has some potential. Vampire monks and reincarnation... This could have led to something very good, but I found it was too cheesy, the heroine is often unable to understand what seems pretty obvious (especially since she tells the story), and what about all this vampire-glowing-in-the-dark-when-near-her stuff?
There were some plot holes, for instance why can't they kiss while it's obvious that the game has already started?
However I was moved by her abduction, some pages where very intense. ( )

I received this book as part of the member's giveaway program. I really enjoyed reading it, with the thrills and stories Rhiannon has to go through. It's a second vampire series book I am reading. And it is different than the Twilight series.
During my reading, it was hard to put the book down, I am looking forward to reading the second book. ( )

Eternus by Kimberli Reynolds is a great book. She establishes the characters and setting early on and Rhiannon has an intense life changing altercation in the first few pages of the book. I really appreciate how Reynolds is able to describe the longing and desire that teenagers have, without making the book inappropriate to parents. She conveys the feelings of each character so well, and the storyline makes you want to read all night! I can't wait to read more! ( )

I'm finding it hard to right a review about this book. When I first started reading it I was turned off by the amount of similarities between this book and the twilight series. But once I got over that I ended up really enjoying the book, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. ( )

I am drawn to you. Not in an, 'I'm merely interested' sort of I way. I hear...
How long is forever?
He bartered your life by telling you to run toward home, and if you reached the gates of the castle, he would let you live one more night. You were his pawn. His game piece. I had become his enemy.
