Hilarious! ( )

Yes, it's a real book, as advertised on the hit show "Parks and Recreation." If you're a fan of the show, this book is essentially a long episode in book form going over Leslie Knope's second-favourite thing to talk about, her hometown of Pawnee, Indiana (her first favourite thing, of course, being her best friend Ann Perkins). Filled with articles by guest writers from her very Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as other familiar faces, this book provides laughs on every page and a new world of inside jokes for fans. And, oddly enough, Leslie's passion for her hometown can actually be kinda heartwarming. (For best results, read each segment in the voices of the characters who wrote them, just in case it wasn't obvious to you that you should do that.) ( )

Amazingly hilarious. The book captured the tone of the show and each of the characters perfectly. ( )

I was turned on to Parks and Recreation after it was over, but living in rerun land. I binge-watched all seven seasons and got this book. I could still hear all the characters' voices as I read their pieces. This book was fun, even if it was a bit naughty in places. The footnotes were a bit small for me though and sometimes I didn't see the numbers up above. ( )

Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America is the perfect compliment to Parks and Recreation, which is saying a lot since I feel Parks and Rec is one of the greatest shows in recent history. Written in the same style as the show, featuring guest segments by each member of the wonderful Pawnee Parks Department. If only local government everywhere could be filled with people like Leslie Knope and her team.

This has to be the best television tie-in I've ever read since Supernatural's John Winchester's Journal. In-show, Leslie wrote this book due to her love for her hometown of Pawnee, Indiana, "warts and all." And seeing her dedication to the quirky history of this town, along with her remarkable accuracy (which she brags about several times).

Reading this, I really started to miss Parks and Recreation. Might be time for a rewatch of the entire series. Might be past time... ( )
