Undone by twin tragedies, Leo Haggerty becomes obsessed with revenge The neo-Nazis cruise past the synagogue on Yom Kippur, opening fire right after services end. In the name of hate, a rabbi is gunned down in front of his congregation. The killers are caught, but the driver jumps bail, and it takes hard-nosed bounty hunter Arnie Kendall to track him down. To help him bring in the mammoth thug, Kendall asks a favor of his best friend, private detective Leo Haggerty. Haggerty is supposed to be home with his girlfriend, Samantha, but in this line of work, the job comes first--and tragedy follows. A hired psychopath breaks into Haggerty's house, and brutally attacks Samantha. Soon after, Kendall is gunned down in the street. His life shattered, Haggerty responds the only way he knows how: He grits his teeth, cocks his gun, and goes in search of revenge. A Fistful of Empty is the 5th book in the Leo Haggerty Mysteries, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

Schutz. Leo Haggerty is the star of Schutz' six-book mystery series, a
private eye in the D.C. area, running a respectable agency, not some
down-on-his-luck has-been. This is an underrated series and deserves
far more attention and acclaim than it has gotten. It's unfortunate
Schutz didn't see fit to give us more money of these.
This is primarily a straight-ahead thriller with Haggerty on the run
from a psychopathic killer who has invaded his world in a rather
unforgettable fashion and ripped Haggerty's life to bits. As the reader,
it was a very easy to be drawn in and get emotionally swept up in the
horror of what's done to Haggerty and the people around him. Much of
the story is a sort of cat and mouse game of whether Haggerty can
figure out what's going on before the psychopath gets what he wants
from Haggerty.
The story is populated with bail bondsmen, Neo-Nazi skinheads, and
computer geeks.
