In this novel, you can't help but feel Emma & Luke's pain as they try to heal after experiencing devastating grief. Many times, I was on the verge of tears because I felt so bad for them. Although I felt that Emma wasn't always treated fairly, I was glad to see her growth throughout the novel. Yes, some parts were predictable, but it was an enjoyable read and I would not hesitate to recommend it. ( )Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. I won this in early reviewers and had time to read it right away... I really am not into religious novels and found this book pretty forgetable. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. Emma and Luke knew each other as teens, now they have reconnected as two broken people struggling with grief, trust, forgiveness. The book deals with issues such as parental abandonment, lack of parental acceptance, abuse, abortion, violence, divorce, grief, death, infertility. Seemed like a few too many issues for one book. Nonetheless, it was well-written and interesting. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. Luke Connors is still grieving over his wife and children's deaths. He's slowly making progress in therapy with the help of brother and sister team of Dave and Christine Hartford. Leaving his therapy session stumbles upon on old friend from twelve years before Emma Garner Brody. She recently moved back to home to start fresh. Emma has a lot of emotional and physical scars that leave her wary of people's motives. The only person that seems to understand Emma is her brother Jimmy. Luke and Emma agree to be pals that support one another no matter what. Jimmy has been talking to Emma and his mother Louise and pushes Emma into speaking with her. Emma dreads talking with her mother yet can't seem to say no to Jimmy's request. Emma reluctantly agrees to spend time with her mother in her home but dreads what she knows will come next~nothing is ever good enough for her mother. Jimmy is treated like he's perfect whereas Emma is treated like the naughty child. Emma really tries to get along with their mom but she never gives an inch or otherwise. Through it all Emma has Luke's support and understanding. Luke is suddenly fighting his feelings because he doesn't want to scare Emma off. Luke sees what Jimmy cannot which is Emma is drowning in trying to measure up to their mother. Will Jimmy see Emma's side of things? Will Emma and Louise make up? What will Luke do about his feelings? Will Emma see thru all of her pain and suffering to be free? Your answers await you in Broken Vessels.Broken Vessels is really a story about forgiveness, faith, trust, and hope between these four people. I cried thru some parts of this book because it really it home. Broken Vessels is what God uses to make a perfect whole although we may be broken it is he who completes us. Very easy to read stuff about two pals who are both under psychiatric treatment in order to overcome their respective pains from the past. They are talking to the same psychiatrist - and because it is an enchanting love story they not only meet there, no they are soon curing their pains "on each other". Well, for my part: A bit too much trusting in Him instead trusting in oneself that is running through the plot. But, nevertheless: If you look for an easy digestable story about true friendship, about true love and never giving up it is the wright content for you! sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
