The international bestseller--now with a new preface by author John Kotter. Millions worldwide have read and embraced John Kotter's ideas on change management and leadership. From the ill-fated dot-com bubble to unprecedented M&A activity to scandal, greed, and ultimately, recession--we've learned that widespread and difficult change is no longer the exception. It's the rule. Now with a new preface, this refreshed edition of the global bestseller Leading Change is more relevant than ever. Good, clear, short. Nice framework, good examples. A little hard to apply a very $$$/business oriented perspective to higher ed, but still valuable. ( )

I’ve read this book as part of an exercise for work. We’re in the midst of change, and others who have read this had been leading the change thus far. I’ve been part of the guiding coalition, to use one of Kotter's terms.

It’s easy to read, with lots of illustrative stories, and it didn’t take me too long. If you’re considering change in your organization and haven’t read this, you should read it. In fact, if you are working in an organization today, given the reality of change in the world, you should read this book. I’ll read it again soon, I'm sure, as it is essential reading for anyone in the midst of of thinking about change. ( )

One of those books that makes much of the business world make a lot more sense when you're done. A lightbulb about successful and failed change efforts at workplaces throughout my career went off probably every two or three pages throughout the book. It has some good insights too, I think, for anyone wondering why we are doing such a crap job of transforming on a larger, societal scale to deal wtih environmental threats like climate change. ( )

ver four decades, Dr. Kotter observed countless leaders and organizations as they were trying to transform or execute their strategies. He identified and extracted the success factors and combined them into a methodology, the award-winning 8-Step Process for Leading Change.
Since the introduction of the 8 Steps, Dr. Kotter switched his focus from research to impact with the founding of Kotter International. Together with the firm, he expanded the scope of the 8-Step Process from its original version in Leading Change to the version outlined in his 2014 book, Accelerate. This business book was making the rounds at my company so I decided I needed to read it to find out why everyone was so excited. I found it shallow and a real waste of money. ( )
