This book is a beautifully illustrated picture book for very young readers. It illustrates a young girl, Pepita, and her frustration with having to translate things for everyone. When Pepita loses her dog, Lobo, she is reminded of the benefits and joys of knowing two languages. ( )

Pepita gets asked to do a lot as a bilingual child, and she gets tired of it. One day Pepita decides she wont speak Spanish anymore. After not speaking Spanish for a while, she realizes all the things she misses out on when she doesn't speak Spanish anymore. This story shows us just how amazing bilingual people are. ( )

“Pepita Talks Twice” is a picture both that uses both English and Spanish text. Pepita is a young girl living in a majority hispanic community in America. Unlike many of her friends, family and neighbors, Pepita is bilingual. Because Pepita speaks both Spanish and English. she is often asked to translate whether it is for family, friends, classmates, etc. Pepita begins to grow frustrated with constantly being asked to translate, so she decides that she no longer speaks Spanish. When Pepita begins to speak only English, she realizes that being bilingual is more useful than she ever thought. Finally, Pepita realizes the value of her bilingual abilities and starts to speak Spanish again. I like this book because it has both Spanish and English in it. This book is great for multi-lingual learners and any classroom. ( )

This picture book uses illustrations, as well as spanish and english to tell the story of a young girl named Pepita who translates the two languages for her community. Pepita gets tired of always speaking twice - once in English and once in Spanish - so she decides to only speak English. She finds struggles she never thought would occur, like how to say Spanish words that don't have an English translation. Pepita finally learns the value of knowing two languages when she has to save her dog from a busy street. This book is great for behavior-over-time charts to help students learn problem or behaviors in a text. This book is also relatable to multi-lingual learners in the class.

This a picture book that features English as well as Spanish text. Pepita is a young girl who one day decides she will no longer speak Spanish because people always make her talk twice. Through the book she learns that speaking Spanish is important to her life and identity and eventually learns to appreciate it.
