Let me be clear. While this is a Grimdark book it is fairly traditional. it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. I still enjoyed it. I was in the mood for fantasy and I really liked Corban. Sometimes the good old stuff is just what the doctor ordered. (

This was a quick and very enjoyable read. It did start off a bit slow, and took quite a while to figure out who was who in the novel, but the action really ratcheted up toward the end and I found myself very invested in each of the story arcs throughout. I'd definitely recommend giving this one a go and am really looking forward to book 2! (

Feels like old school epic fantasy, just what I wanted. Enjoyed this book a lot. Some people say this book reads like a prologue to the rest of the books, which might be true, however, I never felt bored with any part of it. Looking forward to read the rest in the series. (
