This is a new series, written by basketball star Amar'e Stoudemire and seem to be largely autobiographical. The story is simple, easy to follow, the characterization is fairly strong, given the target audience. It has a goody-goody feel to it that might hamper its appeal to the readers it is aimed at. It focuses on being proud of who you are and being someone to be proud of, and it's only the genuine love and concern of the characters that keeps the whole thing from becoming pedantic. It's the kind of book that adults hope kids will like - and I honestly hope they do.
