Bully teaches kids that they shouldn't bully because what goes around always comes back around. You should treat others the way you want to be treated. The three mean girls at school seem to find joy in making other people look bad. They are constantly texting or posting mean things about other people. In the end one of the mean girls, that is behind all of it, gets in trouble for everything that she did. She was blowing out other's candles to make hers seem brighter. She had lost her parents when she was little. People say that childhood experiences such as this can influence their behavior. I would definitely read this book to elementary schoolers to teach them not to bully because it can hurt others feelings. "Bully" by Patricia Polacco is an emotionally written book about the cruelty of bullying in elementary school. It touches on the issue of cyberbullying, a form of harassment that has become more common. A girl named Lyla moves to a new school and finds friendship in another new student named Jamie. Despite Lyla's impressive grades and new position on the cheerleading squad, she finds herself admiring a group of three girls who are coined as the popular group. After befriending them, she learns important lessons of true friendship and standing up for what you feel isn't right. I found the book to be easily relatable to students about to enter middle school. It ends by posing a question to readers that makes them think about what they would do if themselves or a friend were being bullied. I like that the book didn't necessarily end with "and they all lived happily ever after". Instead, it challenged readers and made them think. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

Patricia Polacco takes on cliques and online bullying
Lyla finds a great friend in Jamie on her first day of school, but when Lyla makes the cheerleading squad and a clique of popular girls invites her to join them, Jamie is left behind. Lyla knows bullying when she sees it, though, and when she sees the girls viciously teasing classmates on Facebook, including Jamie, she is smart enough to get out. But no one dumps these girls, and now they're out for revenge.
Patricia Polacco has taken up the cause against bullies ever since Thank You, Mr. Falker, and her passion shines through in this powerful story of a girl who stands up for a friend.
