"Mystic and historian, Sir Adam Sinclair is Master of the Hunt, leader of a secret brotherhood at war with the dark and unholy Powers that menace our world. He has had many names, lived many lives, but his mission remains the same: to protect the Light from those who would tread the Dark Roads. He is the Adept." "Now he faces his greatest challenge. An evil cult older than Christianity itself - the Phurba - is dedicated to reviving the all-too-modern horror that was Nazi Germany. On the northern coast of Ireland, deep within a sea cave, the corroded hulk of a World War II German submarine has been discovered. Inside are sacred texts of the black arts, trapped for decades and finally uncovered once more to serve evil. They have the power to make Aryan world conquest a terrifying reality - if there is a worthy successor. And the ancient order of the Phurba - the Dagger Cult - has the perfect person for the job: the Man with Green Gloves." "Only the Adept can prevent this evil from taking root. Only he can prevent the spawning of a new, demonic Third Reich. And only he can prevent the deadly daggers of the Phurba from piercing his own brave heart..."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. All Rights Reserved… (mais)

Hmmm. Not as good as the others, even as fun fluff. There are two distinct storylines, which never seriously cross (aside from how the main characters have to deal with both) - Clare and Carnage Corridor, which is a happy/uplifting story as she learns to forgive, and the main storyline with the daggers, which is very much not happy. Several deaths, of innocents and bad guys (at various levels), and he gets away in the end. Bah! Adam learns some new abilities, which may come in to play later (I don't recall that they did, aside from in this book); Peregrine alternates between feeling sorry he's running out on his honeymoon and feeling like a fifth wheel in the adventure. Honestly, they could have left him to Julia without losing much (a picture of Raeburn...not much else). Julia reveals unexpected depths, though - nice. Not a favorite. ( )

The Adept again takes on the Nazis. ( )

Starts with Irish coastguards discovering a long-wrecked Nazi submarine and being promptly murdered by sinister Asian monks. Then we shift across the water to Scotland where the police are aided by a psychic order of nobility linked to the Templars (and white so therefore not sinister). The first line of page 72 is, "At the heart of the Inner Planes lay the Akashic Records" - and at that point I decided I could read no further. Sorry, life is too short. ( )

Maybe not quite as good as the first two, but still very good. ( )

For Christopher Seal, without whom we might never have known ...
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The authors offer grateful acknowledgement to the following people, who have greatly enriched the background authenticity of this novel by their generous contributions of time and information:
The Reverend W.C.H Seal, for background on Phurbas and Tibetan black magic, as well as orthodox Tibetan Buddhism, and for checking the final manuscript for accuracy; any errors that have crept in are ours, not his;
Mr. Thom McCarthy, administrator for the Holy Island Project, Samye Ling Tibetan Centre in Scotland, for his warm welcome and reams of information at Samye Ling, and for helping arrange our visit to Holy Island;
Mr. Harry Lloyd, Northern Fisheries Board, Ballyshannon, who allowed us to inspect and photograph inflatable patrol craft and survival gear used by Fisheries officers; also, Mr. Ronan Flynn, Central Fisheries Board, and Mr. Bryan Murphy, of OceanTech, Dun Laoghaire, for more specific information on the Avon inflatable boats used by the Irish Department of the Marine;
P.C. Stephen Stewart (Alexandria), Detective Sergeant Alasdair Barnett (Campbeltown), and P.C. David White, Strathclyde Police, for guidance on police procedure;
Mrs. Elaine Ennis, Scottish Department of Social Work, for insights on rehabilitation procedures for spinal injury patients;
Chief Engineer Gordon W. Whitehead, for invaluable technical expertise regarding submarine operation;
Mr. Simon Martin, for sharing his practical knowledge of marine salvage work;
Dr. Richard Oram, our resident authority on Scottish history, who was able to paint us a graphic picture of seventeenth-century Hawick;
Mr. Ken Fraser of the St. Andrews University Library, for being ever ready to find all manner of obscure books on demand.
