Another great story, but I sensed things a little different now with Gray and Evelyn. I missed all those times that we were involved in the sport the main character plays, but the story still managed to bring all those incredibly sexy and hot scenes with some humour, angst and romance. Now I can't really wait to read Carolina and Drew's story, that one will be epic. ;) Another great story, but I sensed things a little different now with Gray and Evelyn. Now I can't really wait to read Carolina and Drew's story, that one will be epic. ;) Jaci Burton writes some seriously spicy romances. This one is no exception. Gray Preston races cars. He is also independently wealthy and the son of a Senator who is in the running for Vice President. Gray and his father haven't spoken or met for years. Gray couldn't handle that his father always put politics first and him second. He has been rebuffing his father's overtures toward him for years. Evelyn Hill works for his father and wants Gray to get on-board to help his father become Vice President. She is smart, lovely, confident, and sure that she can convince Gray. After he refuses her first offer, she brings in the big guns - his mother - who convinces him to play along. Evelyn will be hanging around with Gray on the race circuit and helping him beef up his social network presence to convince his fans to support his father. Despite a rocky start, each one of them is attracted to the other. They begin a sex-with-no-strings relationship which conceals the fact they they are both falling in love. The more they get to know each other the more in love they become. But each is guarded and neither knows what the other is feeling. The sex scenes were spicy and the romance grew realistically. I liked seeing some of the characters from the earlier Play-By-Play novels make appearances in this one too. Fans of romance - especially the spicy sort - will find all kinds of things to enjoy in this story. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
Gray Preston was born into money, but he's built his racing empire on hard work and muscle. And now that Gray has millions of fans, his senator father sends one of his aides, Evelyn Hill, to elicit Gray's help in garnering votes for the upcoming national election. Gray wants nothing to do with his estranged father's campaign, but Evelyn can be pretty persuasive. She's willing to learn about racing, and maybe even get a little dirty. Evelyn's number one goal is politics, which makes working with Gray difficult, because his only passion is fast cars. As she and Gray spend time together, he teaches her about the sport he loves, and she learns a lot about the man behind the wheel. The more she learns, the more she wants him. But any desire that threatens to derail the carefully laid plans for her future is a dangerous one. With the passion Gray and Evelyn share running hotter than either imagined, one of them is going to have to compromise, or else run the risk of losing more than their hearts. Very little chemistry between the main characters, no real obstacles to overcome and the sex is repetitive and tedious.
Gray’s problematic relationship with his father has potential but is underdeveloped and the resolution is predictable and contrived.
Aside from her job and ambition, we know next to nothing about Evelyn’s background and life. The secondary characters are poorly fleshed out and only seem to be mentioned as couples for additional books in the series.
All in all, a lackluster addition to a so-so series. ( )
