Absolutely fabulous historical fiction. I felt the emotions of the characters and thoroughly enjoyed reading about a piece of history I had never heard of. The "short history of orphan trains" at the end really brought the reality home when I saw the picture of the train full of kids. I was happy that both Vivian and Molly had a satisfying ending and teared up during the last 5 pages or so! ( ![]() I get confused between Molly and Vivian sometimes because their stories are rather similar - both lost their parent(s) at a young age and got shunted around - and Kline alternated between the telling of their stories. Nevertheless, this is just a minor irk. The book is enjoyable with an interesting historical subject matter, though the ending is somewhat fairy-tale. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story kept you enthralled. The writing caliber was not amazing but it didn't really matter. I stayed up very late to finish and that is not something I do very often. Love this book! I really enjoyed the vivid characters and the way the author blended history into the narrative. There's a "gasp" moment that I question as to why the author felt a need to write this into the story. I felt it detracted from the narrative. (My 2 cents!) That said, I still loved the book and highly recommend it. Old reviews went missing. How does save not working? Wonderful book. Need more like this. Tem a adaptação

A young Irish immigrant orphaned in New York City, Vivian was put on a train to the Midwest with hundreds of other children whose destinies would be determined by luck and chance. Molly discovers that she has the power to help Vivian find answers to mysteries that have haunted her for her entire life -- answers that will ultimately free them both.
