According to researchers, the vast majority--a whopping 75-98 percent--of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about truly affects us both physically and emotionally. In fact, fear alone triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses in our bodies, activating more than thirty different hormones! Today our culture is undergoing an epidemic of toxic thoughts that, left unchecked, create ideal conditions for illnesses. Supported by current scientific and medical research, Dr. Caroline Leaf gives readers a prescription for better health and wholeness through correct thinking patterns, declaring that we are not victims of our biology. She shares with readers the "switch" in our brains that enables us to live happier, healthier, more enjoyable lives where we achieve our goals, maintain our weight, and even become more intelligent. She shows us how to choose life, get our minds under control, and reap the benefits of a detoxed thought life.… (mais)

Amazing...life changing book. A must read! ( )

After all the negative comments on how she misuses bible verses I carried on anyway in finishing the book and it was an excellent introduction to neuroscience and forming new pathways of the brain. Also Leaf teaches that old dogs can learn new tricks persay in weakening toxic mental strongholds and liberating us from negative beliefs. I recommend this book to someone who has a poor self image or needs to take out garbage in their thinking lives and want to apply science to their Christian worldview constructively by going through the proper steps laid out in the book. This book almost reminded me of the book called The Work but Dr. Leaf is an obvious strong Christian individual who takes the construction of her ideas and teachings to the conformity of the Word of God. 5 stars. God created our brains to be amazing and powerful. I think this fact is ignored and often neglected in our daily walk. Our minds influence every aspect of our lives; mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. I believe we often forget this and accept whatever thoughts come into our minds as ... well okay. Scripture is filled with examples and the importance of our thoughts. Science has even verified this, but I love it that Dr. Leaf shows the scriptural truths behind what man has learned about our marvelous brains.
This is a full year of devotionals. It can even be a study if you would like. Everyday has a verse and a “brainy tip” as the author calls it. It is scientific information about our brains. These really had an impact along with the scripture on seeing the enormity of this and how it affects me. The author suggests you keep a journal. Each day write down questions you find yourself asking. Next answer them by applying them to your life. Lastly write down your personal thoughts and plans to implement what you have learned. This is far more than just a positive thinking book. It is tool to see and control your thoughts, changing your life and Christian walk. Pardon the pun but this is a “mind altering” book! I do wish the verses had been in the King James Version, but I easily looked them up.
I received this book from Baker Books in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have stated are my own. ( )

This is a Christian approach to the positive change of detrimental thought patterns through neuroplasticity. I appreciated the science in this book and the practical steps to brain change. I think the concepts could have been effectively explained in a 10-minute TED Talk or about 100 pages. ( )

That is a pice of rare delirium.
I assume that most of those who scored this book 5 star are religious people.
For anybody else - this book will be boring, badly written and extreamly annoying with religious citations and God mentioning on every page.
When i open the book and sow 70% reviews from some church people i was surprised.
When i read this lady , so called doctor and scientists believes in God so hard and backs up all the findings and conclusion with bible - the book lost all of its illusive trustworthy.

So by now i have scanned 30% of the book and did not see any appopriate point that one expects to see in a book with such title and description. I will scan to the end in hope to find at least single usefull tip thought here. The book is not too long so i can do that.

Anyway, i do not reccomend to read this to anybody, unless you are looking into some @scientifical@ proof for God existance.

P. S. If you really want to read some good stuff on the topic, refer to -
