This book was about a man named Otis, he was the owner of an antique shop. One day he ran out of antiques and had nothing else but a lady named Suzie Gump came into his shop looking for something to buy. She was the richest lady in town and already had everything. When Otis told her he had nothing Suzie was so excited and insisted on spending $300 on nothing. Everyone was so suprised she bought nothing and so everyone started getting rid of everything. In the end Suzie went back to Otis's antique store and she bought everything he has because she had nothing.

Again we have the beginning of the story starting on the title page with the illustration instead of on page one with the words. This must be a style of Jon Agee’s and it’s very interesting. As a future teacher, I would definitely have the students try to predict the story with these illustrations on the title pages.
This picture book was also hilarious and I loved the idea of the character paying something for nothing. ( )

Nothing is a story about a woman who has everything and wants to buy nothing...literally! The story is set in Mr.Otis Antiques shop. Otis had just sold his very last antique item and has literally nothing else to sell, until the richest lady in town comes in and ask to buy nothing. Soon the entire town is asking to buy nothing. Everyone throws away their things, which gives Mr.Otis a shop full of antiques again! But then the richest lady in town realizes she needs stuff and heads to Mr.Otis's store and buys everything and then he is left with nothing again. The only good thing about this book was the illustrations; which were normal. The story to me makes little since and I would not recommend this book to anyone. ( )

This story was loads of fun! The story is about a shop owner who meets the richest woman in town. The woman becomes interested in paying money to buy Nothing from the shop owner. I thought the concept was ridiculous and hilarious. Especially the part where the mass population breaks out into a frenzy over the sales of Nothing. Although this is a childrens book, this story felt somewhat like a satire on materialism. I also liked that the story showed how the popularity of things within markets are always shifting. I loved the illustrations of people in this book. The art work resembled old comics that I used to love reading as a kid. The characters appeared to be hand drawn on a flat 2d space throughout. This book definitely raises my interest in other works by Jon Agee. ( )

Susie Gump walks into an antique shop and decides she needs to buy something, but the owner says he has nothing for sale. Being a very rich lady, who has everything, she decides she needs nothing and gives the shop owner three hundred dollars. Her actions spark a city wide demand of buying nothing!
