Descended was a nice romantic fantasy that is easy to get into from the first chapter. You meet the main character, Violet, who is on a mission (that she adamantly wanted), as a Guardian Angel to help prepare the savior of their world against the devil and all that comes with it. But how can she do that without directly showing him his destiny and interfering, which is directly against the rules?

This is Violet’s first mission, and though she is not sure what to expect, she goes into it with an open mind and heart. Violet takes over the body of a sick high school girl, Vivian, and has to assume that role, without her true identity showing through. She is ready to prove to herself, and the other Angels, that she can safely lead Carter to his destiny. She never expected the presence of the Devil being so heavy. Her Guardian, Gabriel, accompanies her, and even defends her choices that other Guardians wouldn’t dream of making.

Violet soon learns that dealing with the devil, along with the secrets that she discovers is more then she bargained for; but she is a fighter, and fight she will. Who would have thought it would be so hard to deal with Vivian’s emotions and reactions showing through?

This is a good YA romance, and I enjoyed the narrative flow of this novel, as it really helps you gain insight in the characters involved. This is also a clean read, and safe for all young readers to thoroughly enjoy as much as I did. The ending will leave you hanging, and eager to read the next segment in this series.
