Whatever it is, truth matters. Some call it fudging. Fibbing. Glossing over. Padding the numbers. Being two-faced. Any way you spin it, lying is everywhere. Politicians deceive, athletes cheat, corporations falsify, journalists plagiarize, and magazines airbrush. In fact, as broken people, all of us lie . . . parents and children included. The fissures of lying are compromising our society's foundation. But there is hope: There is absolute truth. It's found in the Word of God. Yet knowing the truth and living with integrity mean more than keeping a checklist of rights and wrongs. The Bible teaches that the truth must inform our every decision, choice, and action: "Everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24).
