I'm a Locke fan having read all of the Box books as well as the Dani Ripper series, but I've been on a hiatus--burned out after the disappointing "magic baby" in Box book three. My mom picked up Locke's books at my urging and recommended KILL JILL (a book of his I hadn't heard of, but that she was having a blast reading). While it has Locke's signature page-turning ability, this one jumped through multiple POVs and back and forth through time. That's fine, I could keep up, but the ending! THE ENDING! Wait, did I call it an ending? It wasn't so much a cliffhanger as it seemed Locke just said, "Okay, this one's done" mid-chapter. Luckily there's an About The Author that lets the reader know, yup, this book is finished. I feel cheated. I feel like either I expect too much or that one cannot read all of one author's books without demanding a constant raising of the bar. This one is older, but not my favorite. Still better than Box 3, KILL JILL is just meh. If you want to read Locke, pick up the first two Box books or any of the Dani Ripper novels instead. ( ) sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
Young, beautiful, thirty-year-old Emma Wilson arrives by taxi in a small tourist town at 7:55 a.m. Her clothes are filthy, her appearance disheveled. She has no purse, no wallet, no luggage, but her back pocket is stuffed with hundred dollar bills. She's also carrying a credit card belonging to Jack Russell, the town's most eligible bachelor, who hasn't been seen for a month. Claiming to be Jack's fiance', Emma immediately moves into his expensive lake house. The local sheriff gets a bad feeling that only turns worse when he discovers Emma's ID belongs to a dead woman.
