( ) (Copy was provided to read and review.) The story: Student Avery is struggling with financial problems. After the death of her parents, she's left to fend for herself and her job in a restaurant isn't paying enough. To make matters worse, the working hours cut short the time left for studying and her test results suffer. Avery has reached a point where she could well loose her scholarship. When her car (which wouldn't pass any sensible MOT) breaks down at a red light, someone jumps behind the steering wheel and drives off with it. Avery tries to catch the thief and runs after the stolen vehicle, when suddenly a hot guy on a bike offers his help and together they get her car back. The biker introduces himself as Sean Stone (later we learn his real name is Sean Ferro) and now he mysteriously turns up out of nowhere all the time when Avery has trouble with her car. (There's so much trouble with the car, that I sometimes felt the thing is the third main character of the book.) Avery's best friend Melony seems to have a much better paid job and she offers Avery to introduce her to her boss, Miss Black. The job, which is then offered to Avery is different than anything she might have hoped for, but turns out she has a "special asset" which would give her the chance to earn a lot of money in just one go and what's more, there's a very suitable candidat for the one off, too. But will she do it? And what's the mystery behind Sean? The book is the first part of the Ferro Family series which counts so far 20 installments, yes that's right TWENTY installments with no. 21 on the way, so be prepared for a lot of reading material, as there are also separate short stories you can buy etc. I've read the first two episodes so far and both end on a cliffhanger, which also means you can easily spend a lot of money on the Ferros and Avery surely would struggle to obtain all the books, that's not suitable for a tight student budget. Apart from that, the series is better than a lot of other stuff out there. You've got a good story along with hot erotic passages, which means The Arrangement is much more than just sex, sex, sex and a few sentences in between. OK, there are quite a few things which remind of Fifty Shades, we've got a virgin alarm and Sean has more than a few skeletons in his closet, that's for sure, but I didn't mind. Avery and Sean, are both interesting characters and I'm intrigued to find out more about the two. (ARC was provided to read and review, thanks to Amazon Germany and the author.) To start off with, please note, this is the GERMAN version of the book. Why the publisher kept the english title instead of "Das Arrangement" or even better something like "Die Vereinbarung" is beyond me and I'm sure, it can be confusing to customers. The german translation itself is OK, but could be better. I see a lot of it lately, that the difference between german and english sentence structure isn't taken into consideration. A fast paced story in english doesn't automatically turn into a fast paced german read, when you just try and translate the text word by word. You need to adjust the sentences a bit or the whole thing sounds odd, which is exactly the case here. Generally I would rather recommend the original in english, I found it a much more enjoyable read. The story: Student Avery is struggling with financial problems. When her car stalls out at a busy intersection and she gets out to check under the hood, a guy steals her car. Armed with a dress and a pair of Chucks, Avery runs after the thief. When a hot stranger offers to help, she can't say no.
