One of the stories in this book is an account of a haunted church in Millvale. I read about the same church in S E Schlosser’s book, Spooky Pennsylvania. Ms Schlosser gives us a great ghost story, complete with dialog and a chilling description of the encounter the artist, Maxo Vanko, had with a ghost while painting murals in the Croatian church in Millvale. Ms Trapani's account, on the other hand, is almost as dry as a newspaper account of a Halloween prank. She does have interviews to back up the story, but there is no attempt made to tell us a story.
If you enjoy reading historical accounts of old places and reputed hauntings, this is just your style. If, instead, you are looking for more hair-raising tales, read Spooky Pennsylvania. I’m rating the book below average because while the book lacks in the way of real stories, there is a wealth of information to be found in the book. It is just not told in the best possible manner.
