"I think my students get even more from the class when you help me, Lamar."

But as signup for this new class is slow and only three people have responded by the class date, they start to think they should take a break. . . . That is until God sends them some last-minute students who are in special need of the friendship and wisdom Emma and Lamar have a way of displaying through their teaching. Will Emma and Lamar learn along with their students that God's timing is perfect?

Everything about this book was, not terrible, but not quite ok either. The writing was bland, the characters were one dimensional, the plot was unengaging. But it wasn't so bad that I stopped reading. It also didn't provide as much of an insight into Amish quilting tradition as I had hoped, but maybe the first book in the series is better for that. ( )

Five different people, all from different backgrounds, end up at Emma Miller's new quilting class. Some there by choice, other's, well lets say that they were in the right spot at the right time, and end up at Emma's to make a wall hanging!

We journey with these people and become involved with their lives, and how they end up touching each other.

There are some great surprises here, and one I loved, but never saw coming. That old quilt that needs repair, in the end does a lot of healing!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )

Another good story in this series, with another surprise near the end that I didn't see coming. I liked the fact that the people in this quilting class tied in to the people in her previous book. And since these two stories take place where I grew up around, it was fun to read of towns I know.

Emma is an Amish woman who loves to quilt and shares her love with people in her quilting classes. Most of those who attend seem to all have problems they are dealing with in their ilves and Emma (and her husband) seek to help them as best they can with their words of wisdom. It is always interesting seeing how these people change during the course of this story. ( )

Emma Yoder Miller, Amish widow-turned newlywed, begins another quilting class. Unlikely students begin the class, all with tattred pieces of their lives needing mending.....

Emma and Lamar Miller put their vacation in Pinecraft, Florida on hold. Emma felt the need to remain in their Amish community in Shipshewana, Indiana to teach another 6-week quilting class. As in the past the class filled up quickly, and the Millers were once again put to the challenge. The students were as tattered as the old quilt that one of the students brought to Emma for repairs. Was it possible that those six people could find restoration and peace through the process of quilting? As a custom, the Millers prayed for each of their students as the weeks passed by, and lives would be changed through their compassion and prayer, and unexpected events.

This series of books is quite different from what we're accustomed to in Wanda Brunstetter's writing style. I'm finding this series to be very entertaining, refreshing and amusing. She has added numerous elements to these stories that reveal many facets of our society, and she blends them with the Amish tradition in a very unique way. Wanda is very familiar with Northern Indiana, and has made numerous Amish friends over the years. Her sense of humor comes through in this series in a way I have found very enjoyable. There are numerous plots interwoven throughout "The Tattered Quilt," and the characters are as varied as the quilt designs found in the area. Faith, hope and compassion are very strong currents that run throughout the lessons in quilting and the lives of these characters. Pick up the entire series and relax and enjoy the entertainment these books offer! I thoroughly enjoyed "The Tattered Quilt" as much as I enjoyed "The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club." In addition, if you have the opportunity, be sure to see the musical based on the first book in the series. It is outstanding!
